Birthday Celebrations

The birthday celebrations started at 9.30 am, bright and early, with Michelle Johnson arriving to start the workshops arranged. The ladies started arriving soon after and were really up beat and eager to get started. The first workshop we were really please to have Kayleigh join us with her Mum. Kayleigh is only 11 years old but to be honest is as good as or even better than us adults. She had a lovely time and went away to carry on crafting.

During the workshop Michelle arranged for all the girls to play pass the parcel. However, this was ordinary pass the parcel. Each of the ladies picked out a number from a yellow container with a face on the front which looked like Sponge Bob. This was passed around each of the ladies,when the music stopped a number was taken from the box and the lucky person received a prize. Each of the ladies in the end received a prize. This was again repeated for the afternoon ladies. Well our pass the parcel friend has not got a name so we therefore all had a hard think a placed a name for it inside. At the end of the day a name was pulled out and finally our friend was named 'Crafty Pearl'

Before the excitment of Crafty Pearl, the ladies were enjoying making the embellishments with a glue gun. This involved rubber stamping, foils and cosmic shimmers.

In the photograph above is Kayleigh using the glue gun to make peals.

Here Sue has used the glue gun and a rubber stamp to make a flower image and then foil to give the flower colour.

Avril is busy making her pearls. At the side you can see one of her cards. The pearls are to go onto her card to complete it.

Above is Kayleigh's Mum, Tamena. She has stamped this card and used Metallic pens to colour the inside of the flower. On the card are also pearls made using the glue gun. These are differcult to see!

Above are examples of the pearls and a stamped image using the glue gun and finished using mico powders and foils.

All the ladies including Kayleigh had a wonderful 2.5 hours of fun and enjoyed Michelle's workshops and have said they will look forward to another workshop with her and Crafty Pearl!

Raffle

The Pharmacy, Hairdresses and myself are really pleased to have raised £106.00 for the Polehampton Junior School in Twyford.

Thank you to everyone who purchased a ticket. The lucky winners received, a meal for 2 at the local pub, and meal for 2 at The Bird in Hand, £10.00 gift voucher for the local garden centre, bottle of wine, voucher for the craft shop and a voucher for a blow dry for the hairdressers.

Laugh & Craft Club

Laugh & Craft Club this month was busy and we also enjoyed the company of Kim's son seen in the photo below. He did craft for a little while but found he could not resist his phone. It was nice to see him and is always nice to see the younger generation enjoying the company of slightly older crafters. This month Kim had come along with embossing in mind. She made the place settings for Elaine's Daughter's wedding. Ronnie helped by placing the gems on the flowers. That's what I call team work. Sheila in the middle of Kim and Elaine was completing new designs for her ATC cards. Each month she comes up with different designs and then sends them to other ladies who enjoy making the ATC cards.

Christmas Card Club

Last week was the Christmas Craft Club. Are you thinking, that is early? Even though it is early the club has proved popular. Some of the ladies are coming to start working on their very long Christmas card lists instead of doing them all at the last minute. They all enjoy the interation with the other crafters and bounce ideas off each other. Sample cards are made to give the ladies ideas. They do not have to copy exactly what I have put together. Below are the ladies happerly crafting and some of the Christmas cards that have been made over the last of workshops.

Pro-marker Club

At the pro-marker club on Wednesday and Friday evening of this week, I was asked to incorporate peel-off's with the pro-markers this week at the pro-mark club. I came up with the card below, using peel off's and rubber stamping.

I hope you like it as much as the ladies and I have enjoyed making the card.

Don't the Wednesday Pro-marker Club ladies look pleased with their cards and so they should be.

Below are photographs of the ladies who came to the Friday evening club. The photo below is Ronnie Okeefe. I love the look on her face. I am not sure if it is concentration or she was not happy with what she had just coloured. She did not need to worry, her card was great and the colours she used were perfect!

Elaine has not been with use for a while due to work pressures and was over whelmed when she had completed her card she burst into laughter. I am sure you will agree it is a lovely photograph and her card is perfect! I think Kim is amazed she has put the ribbon back. I think the ribbon where it is is perfect!

What happened in April?

It has been a while since I have written on my blog, so I have a few things to tell you, so make a cup of tea or coffee first and then lets start.

Firstly the clubs having been going well and have enjoyed the company of new crafters joining in the fun and giving fresh ideas and inspiration for everyone. It is really nice to have them come along and I hope we will see more of them on a regular basis.

The laugh & craft club is always full of laughter and some times a bit of crafting inbetween the flowing conversation. It is always enjoyable to be with the ladies on the first Friday night of every month. A good start to the weekend!

The rubber stamping club is a full 3 hours of crafting and involves something different every month.

In April we used the window and window box stamp by Flower Soft to complete the project below. Pro-markers were used to colour in the image and flower soft was used for the flowers and wisteria.

At pro-marker club in April we used the Flippin' range of stamps, 'We love to shop' to make a swival card using their pre cut aperture cards. These stamps are ideal for this as you have the front of the back of the image. The pictures below show the finished examples and the ladies enjoying themselves and filling the shop with concentration.

Christmas card club held on a Wednesday and a Saturday has been enjoyed using the time to complete up to four cards towards Christmas. Samples are made and ideas are given so all can be completed. Each month different cards are shown using rubber stamps, peel-offs, toppers etc.

Parchment club is always popular and I am always amazed at the work they produce. Maureen takes the workshop twice a month and comes up with different project all the time. Below is Tanya who even though she will not admit it is very good and produces some lovely work. Recently she has learnt the technique with the pinta paints.

Beginners are always welcome. Below Maureen is going though the basic techniques and giving advice.

Sakura Workshop with Michelle Johnson ~ Saturday 2nd April

Saturday was a success! What a relief. Right up until the middle of the week we had not filled the workshops and I had decided to ask the ladies who were coming along to the afternoon workshop if they could come in the morning. This was not a problem and gave Michelle 5 people. By the end of the week this was a different matter. We had a few last minute people decide they would like to come along which gave Michelle 9 to teach. Although we had a couple too many we still had plenty of room for them to complete their projects and enjoy their morning with us. Every one enjoyed themselves and had not realised all the different ways on how you could use the Sakura Pens. The enthausiam was great and they are looking forward to the next workshop with Michelle which I will let you know about at a later date.

Avril ~ I can feel the concentration

The above technique is using a water brush and a Silver Shadow Sakura Pen.

Place the pen onto the card with the water brush ontop and move along the page

moving the pen and the brush at the same time.

This will give you a lovely marble effect.

when the card is dry you can really notice the silver from the pen.

A great background for stamping your flowers onto or using with your peel-off's.

Kayleigh's Birthday Party ~ Sunday 27th March

Kayleigh's 10th birthday party with her friends.

Kayleigh and her friends had a wonderfull time making a frame to house their favourite photograph. We had pre-cut the mounts for them so they could decorate them using patterned paper and a choice of stamped images for them to colour in to decorate the sides of their frame. All of them were completely different and beautifully coloured and put together. They all went away very proud of what they made. Hope you had a great birthday Kayleigh!

Rubber Stamping Club

Friday evening rubber stamping club went well. Full of inpsiration along with lots of giggles. They made some lovely cards using our new cross template and fantasy fibre.

I am sure you will agree Janet looks really pleased with her finished card.

Before using the cross the ladies had fun using Fantasy Fibre & film using stamps made by Creative Expressions called 'U Mount' CUTE.

£ 10.80

They all had a go stamping these images with the film or the fibre. The photo below is using the fibre.

To make the above all you need to do is firstly purchase yourself some fantasy fibre. You will also require an acrylic block and the stamps as shown above.

Stick the rubber stamp down onto the acrylic block with repositional spay.
Take a small amount of fibre and place over the stamp. Making sure there are no gaps or is too thick.
Gently take off the stamp.
Ink you stamp using a permanent ink or stazon.
Place the fibre over the stamp again.
Place baking paper or parchment over the top.
Using an iron, an encaustic iron or travel iron would be ideal on a medium to high setting, iron over the top of the parchment making sure you go round all the edges.
Remove the parchment and the fibre and hopefully your image will look like the above.

The film is used the same way.

Stationery Set Workshop ~ Sunday 20th March

Anniversary Card

I was asked yesterday by a very thoughtful gentlemen to make a card for his wife to give to her on their 25th wedding Anniversary. He wanted Daffodils because it is also St'David's Day on their Anniversary. He also wanted to have the colour blue and silver on the card. I managed to acheive all three!

I hope he likes it and more importantly I hope his wife does!

The Daffodils was from a non-diecut decoupage sheet and the side has been punched out using an E K Success punch.

On Saturday we had the rubber stamping club. This month we tackled the brayer. After alot of practicing and judging by the photo's above, I am sure you will agree they suceeded.

Pro-Marker Club

A couple of examples of this months card designs from the ladies who came along to the pro-marker club. The image is from the Fairy Doodles Range from Buzzcraft.

This card was stamped onto white card, coloured using the pro-markers and then chalks were used to give some colour around the edge.

The background papers were from an Elusive images CD.

Again stamped onto white card and coloured with pro-markers but this time the image was cut out and placed onto some patterned paper.

Using the same image but look so different!

I think you will agree they are both equally as good and it is going to be differcult choosing the winning card for the extra 10% off on purchases made during the next pro-marker clubs in March.

Memories

Do you remember watching Bagpuss when you were younger. Crafthouse Press have produced some clear stamps with all the characters that were in the show. The card opporsite has been by stamping Bagpuss on to white card and then using pro-markers to colour him in. I have also used pro-markers on the mouse . Bagpuss is layered on a cream background that has been cut out using the Nellie's multi frames. A 6" x 6" piece of flowered paper was cut out for the background. The remaining paper that was left I cut out the flowers and placed them on the front of the card. The size of the white card used was 8" x 8".

On Sunday 6th March, Alex will be launching 2 new templates to add to our range under the name of Eureka Craft Designs.. Keep this date free as I know you will not be disappointed.

On Saturday 2nd April, Michelle Johnson will be coming in to take workshops using Sakura Pens. There are many ways you can use these pens to give you different effects. They also have a wonderful collection of colours to choice from to enhance you craft projects. The day will be split in two so Michelle can take two workshops. Each using the same projects. I must have had a senior moment last week when I e-mailed you to say craft club was on Friday 28^th Jan. This was totally incorrect as it is this Friday evening. I wondered why only Avril turned up. Still we had a nice evening. I hope you will be able to make it this Friday. It will be good to catch up with you. You will be able to see the new layout of the shop. The table now is in the front of the shop.

STRONGBONES CHILDREN CHARITY

I have been sent a sponsorship form from Stongbones Children Charity. (charity no: 1086173). They have asked me if I would kindly raise at least £25.00 by the 16^th February. This is to go towards a 10 year old girl who lives in Lower Earley. She has learning disabilities, seizures, accelerated aging of her bones and is wheelchair bound. She badly needs a new wheelchair costing £2,200.00. When you are in the shop, if you could spare any loose change it would be gratefully appreciated.

CHRISTMAS CRAFT CLUB

I am in the process of writing my next newsletter with all the updated workshops etc, One of the new clubs I will be putting in place is a Christmas Club. This will involve making a couple of Christmas cards with the craft materials supplied, from stamping to toppers. Start to make your Christmas cards now, so you do not fhave to rush at the end of the year! All the materials are included and the usual tea/coffee will be available. The cost of this club will be £6.00. There will be samples for you to copy or simply to put your own ideas into practice. This could be a good way to bring your friends together to meet up and craft. There will be no mess to clean up, tea/coffee severed to you and be surrounded by lots of lovely craft goodies. It will take place during the week; however I have not worked out which day would be best. If you are interested and have a particular day which is best for you, perhaps you could let me know. I look forward to hearing from you.

Craft Club This Friday ~ 4th February

Well I must have had a senior moment last week and forgot I ran the craft club on the !st Friday of every month. That explains why only Avril turned up. We had a good evening and made some lovely cards even though we were a week early.

SHOP RE-OPENS - 25.01.11

As many of you already know, it has been a busy time for us since the begining of December. Things are now back on track, the shop has had a face lift and we are now re-open.

Rubber Stamp Club ~ Friday 10th ~ 6.30 pm ~ 9.30 pm

On Friday we will be holding another rubber stamping club. The last one we held was a success and enjoyed by all. The pictures show a couple of the ladies proudly showing their finished cards.

The card was made using a christmas stamp onto puzzle pieces. The puzzle pieces were secured on the back with easy lift tape so they did not move when stamped on. The image was then stamped using stazon and then using Sakura watercolour pencils to colour in. The image was then stamped onto a piece of scrap paper and cut out. This was placed over the image using just a small amount of non permenant glue on the puzzle pieces as a mask. Snow flake stamps were stamped on to the back ground using Versamark and then embossed with clear embossing powder. The back ground of the puzzle pieces were then shaded using Denium Distress ink pad. This was put on with a piece of 'Cut-n-Dry' foam. A peice of paper towel was used to take off the ink off the snow flakes. The mask was then removed. The easy lift tape was removed from the back of the puzzle peices and two of the pieces were arranged away from the rest. This was layered onto a piece of purple card. The lighter background was using glossy card and the same rest method used, using snowflake stamps.

Launch of New Eureka Craft Templates ~ with Alex ~ 6th November

We were really pleased to have launched two more templates, 'Magic Template & 'Diamond Fold Template', adding to our range under the name of 'Eureka Craft Designs'. Alex demonstrated these new templates along side the previously launched templates, 'Revolve' & 'Fader' templates. As with all of our templates we like to add extras giving you flexability to use certain elements with your other card making projects. The Diamond Fold template has the mat & laying templates for scalloped edges and straight edges. These will also fit perfectly onto 6 x 6 square cards. We have also included a template to allow you to add an extra element to the inside of your card for a pop out. A workshop using the 'Flippin Christmas' range was used, using this element. See picture below.

Stix 2 Demonstration Day ~ with Michelle Johnson ~ Saturday 13th November

Firstly I need to apologise for not updating my blog as quickly as I should, but now I have I start with the demonstration day we had with Michelle Johnson. Michelle was demonstrating the products produced by Stix 2. For example, foam pads, double sided adhesive sheets, foils etc... You will be surprised what you can achieve with your foam pads. eg. Use them with your foils to make the middle of flowers etc.. You do not need to use them just for sticking.

In the afternoon Michelle run free workshops using the products she had been demonstrating. You can see from the photo's it was enjoyed by all including the men!! At the end of the workshop a raffle prize was given, donated by Michelle, and was won by Kayleigh aged 10.

Successful Parchment Workshop Day

Saturday 9th October

Another successful parchment workshop day taken by Maureen today. The ladies made some beautiful pieces of work and at times we could here a pin drop. Some of the ladies already attend our regular workshops on the last Tuesday of every month but now would like, along with the new ladies who attended today, to attend a Saturday parchment workshop each month. This has been arranged to start in December and will be the 2nd Saturday of every month. Please contact me if you are interested!
